Busting Data Management Myths
Busting Data Management Myths
Mythology is a crucial component of culture. As time passes, groups create collections of tales they tell to explain their world and their ways. Often, through embellishment and exaggeration, the tales are wrapped in warnings and warped by whimsy. What remains is often laced with fantasy, rich with both confusion and concern.

Technology workers have been known to partake in myth-making from time to time. As new technologies emerge, their narrative often becomes a tapestry of both fact and fiction. One key area, rich with mythology, is the discipline of data management. Because of the alarming rate of data growth in the past decade, data management myths have been created and dispersed at an alarming rate.

At Informatica, we deal daily in the robust realities of data management. For this reason, we want to share a blog series that looks at key data myths we often encounter.

In the coming weeks, we will explore several pervasive myths about data that come up in our conversations. And, depending on what we find, we just may “bust” the following types of data management myths along the way:

1) Big Data Myths
2) Cloud Data Myths
3) Data Security Myths
4) Master Data Management Myths
